Ruta del Algarrobo Highway

Thanks to its extension of 187 km, the Ruta 5, section La Serena – Vallenar P3 has consolidated itself as a fundamental part of the socioeconomic growth in the Northern area of Chile. This project has as a main objective to constantly look for and work on improvements and efficiencies that, on the one hand, allows it to provide a better service to its users, and on the other, position the road as a key player in the country’s growth and development.

The environmental and cultural protection are also key in the project. In this context, new green areas have been placed in the town of Incahuasi which, apart from improving the appearance of its urban accesses, also promote a more sustainable environment. In addition, the bus stops in the area have been remodeled and a distinctive local chapel has been restored, considered a cultural heritage site. 

The road has also promoted the usage of water resources through the implementation of two wastewater treatment plants that have a 10 m³ tank storage pond that is filled and emptied once a week. 

In addition, through our specialized branch Sacyr Maintenance and its subsidiary SAOPSE, we operate and maintain this highway to ensure the safety and comfort of the road users.
