Américo Vespucio Oriente I Highway
The Vespucio Oriente Concession, which extends for approximately 9 kilometers, passing through the districts of Huechuraba, Recoleta, Vitacura, Las Condes, La Reina y Ñuñoa (from Avda. El Salto to Avda. Príncipe de Gales), fulfills part of the longed-for aspiration of closing the Américo Vespucio ring road.
This project provides a solution to the north-south connectivity, alleviating a highly saturated area of the city. This project reduces travel times, air and noise pollution, and fuel consumption, undergrounding most of the traffic that used to move on the surface.
The tunnels developed for this project use different constructive solutions, including two-level tunnels, for which we have implemented the use of IOHNIC, our innovative illumination project. With this system, that distribute the luminaires in a continuous way, we guarantee the highest comfort and safety for the road users, as well as optimize the energy consumption and protect the environment. Free flow tolls were also implemented in order to keep the traffic flow stable, without stops or vehicle speed reductions that reducing CO2 emissions.
