Ruta 78 Santiago-San Antonio
We have started the operation of the Santiago-San Antonio (Ruta 78) Highway in Chile. With an investment of 892 million dollars (790 million euros) and for a maximum variable term of 32 years, the project comprises a 132.8 km highway that will benefit approximately 1.7 million people.
The road constitutes a main axis for cargo transportation between Santiago and the port of San Antonio and an important connection for commuters in the vicinity of its route.
The scope of works includes the improvement of several sections of the existent highway, the widening of roundabouts, the construction of new ramps to the ports, the renovation of the Manuel Rodríguez Bridge and the new junctions, with the aim of enhancing security and reducing travel times. It has free flow tolls which avoid stops or speed reduction, contributing to cut down vehicles' CO2 emissions.
Moreover, through our specialized branch Sacyr Maintenance and its subsidiary SAOPSE, we take care of the conservation, operation and integral maintenance of the road, thus implementing the highest quality and modernization standards for all its users.
