Desierto de Atacama Airport

This infrastructure represents a key connection point for the area since it is the only one airport with commercial flights in the entire Atacama region. It is located 50 km northeast of the city of Copiapó and 20 km far from Caldera. Through this project we will increase the passenger terminal’s surface area fivefold to 18,274 m².

Works will begin in 2027 and we will create four boarding bridges, since the airfield does not currently operate with this system. Additionally, we will duplicate the number parking spaces to 343, and parking spaces for commercial aircraft will increase from three to five. The new facilities will come into operation in 2030.

This infrastructure is part of the Northern Airport Network of Chile P3, which also includes the Andrés Sabella Airport, which is one of the three busiest airports in the country. This project encompasses the expansion, improvement, and maintenance of the two airport infrastructures, which will enhance the service quality and address the expected increase in passengers.
