Plaza Eliptica Transport Hub, Madrid

The Plaza Eliptica Transport Hub is a meeting point for all the metropolitan transportation services  that access Madrid and that distribute through the metro and bus lines. With more than 60,000 users per day, this key transport axis provides a high-quality system that contributes to relieve congestion in an area characterized by dense traffic, while facilitating connections to the capital's transport system.

In order to guarantee the greatest comfort for the users, the interior of the transport hub monitors all the data related with polluters, noise, temperature and humidity, among other criteria. The size of the transport hub amounts to 29,700 m2 divided in 3 underground levels, 20 bus platforms and 600 metres of tunnels.

Plaza Eliptica’s Transport Hub is part of the so-called Transport Hub Plan, developed by Madrid’s transport consortium and inaugurated in 2007. These projects involved the construction of four new infrastructures in the main accesses to Madrid: Principe Pio, Plaza Eliptica, Plaza de Castilla and Moncloa. The Plan allowed to remove 15,500 buses daily and it has significantly improved the mobility for over 1 million of people every day.
