Moncloa Transport Hub, Madrid
Located at the northwest access to the city of Madrid, the Moncloa Transport Hub serves as a junction point for intercity and long-distance bus lines with the Metro network and city buses. It aims to offer a wide range of metropolitan connections and commercial concession to the more than 33 million commuters that use the infrastructure every year.
In order to guarantee the greatest comfort for the users, the interior of the transport hub monitors all the data related with polluters, noise, temperature and humidity, among other criteria. The size of the transport hub amounts to 46,000 m2, with 40 bus platforms and 32 stores. The underground parking has 1,500 parking spots.
Moncloa’s Transport Hub is part of the so-called Transport Hub Plan, developed by Madrid’s transport consortium and inaugurated in 2007. These projects involved the construction of four new infrastructures in the main accesses to Madrid: Príncipe Pío, Plaza Elíptica, Plaza de Castilla and Moncloa. It allowed to remove 15,500 buses daily and improve the mobility for over 1 million people every day.
