In our highway P3s, one of our major objectives is reducing the accident rate and promote that drivers, pedestrians and workers make a responsible use of them. For this reason, we carried out several initiatives focused on raising awareness about road-safety education and accident prevention in our Chilean transport P3s.
Our team from Ruta 78 San Antonio-Santiago Highway organized workshops on road safety education for pedestrians along with Trayecto Seguro Foundation, created by Movilidad Vial, the organization that developed the biggest road-safety education program in Chile. Altogether, 180 students and 30 neighbors from the surrounding areas of the highway participated in the activity.
Through the Valles del Desierto , Ruta del Algarrobo and Ruta del Limarí, we organized educational activities in nearby schools. The objective is getting underage children to know about the basic driving rules and raising awareness about good practices in the highways.
We also implemented an innovative system on the Valles del Bío-Bío Highway, called Vialbot. It’s a robot used in road work areas to signal vehicles to slow down and to indicate the lane in which they must drive. This prevents our work team from being exposed to the traffic.
Moreover, we were also pioneers in Rutas del Desierto by organizing the first interactive road safety fair in Tarapacá, to also spread driving empathy and promote a good coexistence among the highway users. Meanwhile, on the Américo Vespucio Oriente I , we implemented mobile data services throughout all the route, so that people will be able to obtain real-time traffic information even at the subway level.
Speaking of road safety management systems, at Ruta 66 we have already been recognized for its implementation by Club Europeo de Automovilistas de Chile, expert in its evaluation, as well as by Mutual de Seguridad, specialist in workplace safety and health. Likewise, at Elqui Route Highway we are in the process of obtaining the ISO 39001 standard certification, which demonstrates a continuous commitment to maintain and improve our road safety management system.
We are committed to improving people and local communities’ lives. Taking care of the safety of the people using our infrastructures is one more example of our constant effort to look after their needs.
