Sacyr Concesiones

Canal del Dique, located in Northern Colombia, is a P3 project with an outstanding environmental purpose. In addition to working on recovering its ecosystem, Sacyr Concesiones is carrying out ongoing social actions to create value for people living there.

Recently, we organized 74 workshops on environmental journalism for more than 2,000 students from the departments of Atlántico and Bolívar. These learning courses are part of “Generación Restauración”, a program organized by our concessionaire Ecosistemas del Dique to raise environmental awareness among students. In there, they learned about radio, news writing and audiovisual production, and focused on current issues such as climate change, water resources and the development of sustainable habits.

During these trainings, students participated in Smartfilms, one of the biggest mobile film contests in the world. During this edition, they had the opportunity to film 30-second short films based on the theme “In Peace with Nature” where they documented the extensive native biodiversity and its importance in human development in the area.

Recovering degraded ecosystems means to bring back biodiversity where it was lost. That is precisely what we are doing at Canal del Dique: through the restauration of the flora and fauna located nearby the mouth of Magdalena River, we create value for the local communities of the departments of Atlántico, Bolívar, and Sucre.
