We have organized several training sessions for more than 250 women in the vicinity of Buenaventura-Loboguerrero-Buga Highway, in Colombia, as part of our strategy ‘Mujeres Todoterreno’. Professions such as welding, traffic control, machinery operation, road construction or electricity have been taught.

María Elena Castillo, one of the graduates from scythe operation and welding, was grateful for the support and claimed that “this has been a major challenge for us because it showed us that as women, we are capable of achieving great things in different professions that used to be done only by men, as multi-tasking women that’s how we break down barriers”.

The highways we build, operate, and maintain keep different territories connected. But we want our impact to go further. That is the reason why we continuously carry out actions to benefit the communities surrounding our P3 highways. In this case, these trainings enhance women employability to reduce gender gap in 7 municipalities: Buga, Yotoco, Restrepo, Calima (Darién), Dagua, La Cumbre and Buenaventura.

The Buenaventura-Loboguerrero-Buga Highway is 128 km long and has entailed an investment of 800 million euros. The objective of these works is to improve mobility from the port area of Buenaventura and to connect this port with the interior of Colombi
