Value for People

Committed to education we promote voluntary activities in a Colombian school

One of the main axes of our activity is guaranteeing the wellbeing of the local communities where we are located. Thanks to the Sacyr Foundation’s work, we have been able to make progress on this goal in a school centre in the community of San José de Anchicayá, in Colombia.

Sacyr Concesiones

The Sacyr Foundation and the Buenaventura-Loboguerrero-Buga Highway concession’s social management area, in Colombia, have organized a first voluntary initiative in the educational institution Silvano Caicedo Girón, in which several of our colleagues participated.

It was a very special day: in order to reach the school, the volunteers travelled down a river for about an hour and a half, accompanied by the youth organization ‘Seamos Útiles’. Once they arrived in the school, they donated 100 school kits to the students and we could know their objectives for the future, as well as their wish to help their community, San José de Anchicayá. Moreover, a music group was present at the event and performed traditional songs of the region.

Through this voluntary activity, and with the donation of school material, we seek to support the inhabitants of this Colombian Pacific area and promote the importance of education for present and future generations.
