Pirámides-Tulancingo-Pachuca Highway is our first P3 in Mexico. With this ambitious project we’ve improved the lives of its more than 20,000 daily users, making connectivity easier and safer.
Located between the states of Mexico and Hidalgo, this highway is considered one of the country’s most important roads as it’s part of the backbone that connects the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean.
In 2017, we won the project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, for the maintenance and operation of the 183 kilometers of road over a 10-year period. For the first two and half years we’ve focused on rehabilitating the existing road. Our top priorities are grating connections without disrupting traffic and the safety of the daily users.
Achieving the highest quality standards is always a must for us. That is why we looked at distinct solutions for each area of the project, using the most appropriate procedures for each stage. For example, we incorporated new processes such as rubblizing, a method that shreds heavily damaged pavements. This method helps reduce road reconstruction times and traffic interruptions, which inconvenience users, while maintaining quality, safety and the comfort of drivers. And not only that, with rubblizing, we also take better care of the environment by decreasing the overall material waste that is generated.
Sustainability is the future, and it’s something we prioritize in all our projects. That is why we innovated with the use of RAR-X in our mixtures. This material, is a high-tech product made from powdered end-of-life tires, pre-treated with bitumen and other additives, that enhance the characteristics of the mixtures by providing:
● Better performance against reflection and propagation of cracks
● Better fatigue resistance
● Decreased noise, among others.
With the use of RARX we generate a true circular economy, recycling tires that have reached the end of their lifecycle. Fantastic, isn't’ it?
Yunuén López, Project Director says “The greatest achievement of this project has been the team we have formed, a young group, full of talent and passion for their work.” Our commitment to safety and quality starts at the top and goes all the way down to our employees. We consistently train our personnel to make sure we maintain the highest quality standards, safety procedures and processes that ensure the proper functioning of our roads. Thanks to that we can proudly say that we have obtained OHSAS certifications 18001 and ISO 9001, as well as 14001.
