Ontario Science Centre

Sacyr secures its first concession in Canada. It is one of the most emblematic projects in the city of Toronto, which includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the new Ontario Science Centre, located on the shores of Lake Ontario.
In addition, several heritage assets will be renovated. These include the iconic Cinesphere, where film screenings will continue to be held, and the Pods, modular pavilions elevated over the lake, whose design dates back to 1970s.

The construction will follow sustainability criteria, such us the optimization of energy performance or the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The new museum will replace the former Ontario Science Centre, inaugurated in 1969 and considered one of the first museums in the world to include interactive experiences. The renewed cultural center aims to continue these activities while also introducing a science-based educational programme. The objective is to position the Ontario Science Centre as one of the country’s leading science outreach facilities.
